IRGC: Two US-Coerced Deviant Ships Exploded in Strait of Hormuz
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced in a statement on Tuesday that two violating oil tankers seeking to transit an unsafe route in the Strait of Hormuz were stopped after blasts triggered major fires, lashing out at the US military for misleading the vessels.
After being misled by "the child-killing US military", the two oil tankers intended to pass through the dangerous route South of the Strait of Hormuz suffered explosions that caused extensive fires and brought them to a halt, the IRGC statement read. The IRGC also issued a renewed warning to international shipping companies, urging them not to rely on US military guidance regarding navigation through the strategic waterway and avoid unsafe and hazardous routes,” it stressed.
It comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington over the Strait of Hormuz, with the United States striking Iran, and Tehran responding with attacks on American military bases across the region. Iran has repeatedly affirmed its sovereign right to secure the Strait of Hormuz, through which a vital portion of global energy transits.
The IRGC also emphasized in its statement that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed as long as US acts of aggression continue in the region.“It is self-evident that as long as America's assault in the region continue, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed, and not a single drop of oil or gas, nor even a single bag of chemical fertilizer, will be exported from the region,” it stressed.
