Military Source: Strait of Hormuz to Remain Closed as Long as US Hostile Actions Continue
A military source told Fars News Agency on Tuesday that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as long as United States attacks against Iran continue.
The source stressed that the strategic waterway is in "full control" of the Iranian Armed Forces.“Any decision to reopen or continue restrictions on this passageway will be made solely based on security considerations and national interests, and this situation will not change as long as US threats and hostile actions continue,” he stated.
Iran has consistently maintained that safeguarding the Strait of Hormuz is its sovereign right.Stressing the strategic importance of the waterway, through which a significant share of the world's energy supplies passes, Tehran has warned that any endeavour by foreign powers to undermine security, stability or circumvent Iran's authority will be met with a firm and decisive response from the country's Armed Forces.
The source told FNA that Tehran would not grant permission for any vessels to pass through the vital route.
