Iran’s Deputy FM Announces Suspension of Islamabad MoU
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Qaribabadi stated that Tehran has suspended its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Washington as United States attacks continue.
“We were in negotiations. Unfortunately, it was the Americans themselves who, in fact, took these aggressive actions, in violation of their own commitments,” Qaribabadi told reporters on Saturday.As a result, “We have suspended all of our commitments and are, in fact, no longer implementing them”, he added.
The MoU between the two sides ended weeks of war and opened space for detailed negotiations but has failed amid repeated US violations of the 14-point interim accord.Iran has documented dozens of significant US breaches since the MoU was inked in mid-June, including violating Iranian arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, continued threats of military strikes, raids on Southern Iran, re-imposing oil sanctions, and continued Israeli aggression on Lebanon.US President Donald Trump has also declared that the ceasefire regime with Iran is no longer in effect.
“What we are now faced with is defending our country,” Qaribabadi stated.“We will do so firmly and decisively, and I think the Americans have once again received their response — that these aggressive actions by them will get them nowhere,” the ranking diplomat continued.
