Iran Announces Readiness to Eliminate Obstacles to Implementing Strategic Agreements with Russia
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that Tehran is prepared to remove any obstacles blocking the implementation of strategic deals with Moscow.
During a meeting with Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev in Tehran on Monday, Pezeshkian pointed to the level of strategic relations and extensive agreements and stressed the need to accelerate joint projects between the two countries.He said the Russian minister's visit to Tehran and consultations with Iranian officials reveal both countries’ firm determination to advance bilateral cooperation, adding that deals should move from the discussion phase to operational implementation as soon as possible.The president added Tehran and Moscow enjoy broad capacities for collaboration in energy, oil, gas, petrochemicals, industry, trade in essential goods, transit corridors, and other economic sectors."Given the will and motivation at the highest levels of both countries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, to boost collaboration, it is not acceptable for joint projects to face delays," Pezeshkian continued.“Iran and Russia are strategic partners and reliable friends, and the implementation process must accelerate in line with capacities, political will, and the standing of the two countries,” the Iranian president added.He criticized unilateral policies and the use of sanctions and pressure against independent nations.“The Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, and other independent countries of the world do not accept unilateralism and attempts to impose will upon other nations,” Pezeshkian stated.
He noted that scientific, industrial, economic, and executive cooperation against unilateral and bullying powers can help “neutralize the effects of pressures and sanctions and pave the way for a fairer order in international relations".Tehran and Moscow have signed a broad cooperation pact as the two countries deepened their partnership in the face of Western sanctions.Iranian and Russian officials say the “comprehensive strategic partnership treaty” covers areas from trade and military cooperation to science, culture and education, and will enhance the “military-political and trade-economic” relations between Tehran and Moscow.Moscow and Tehran say the two countries would intensify collaboration across a range of areas including politics, security, trade, transport and energy.
Tsivilev, for his part, reaffirmed Moscow's serious determination to implement joint agreements and announced the formation of specialized working groups for each project with the purpose of achieving tangible and practical results from bilateral collaboration.The Russian minister also praised Iran's independent stance and resistance in the face of external pressure and said his country values its partnership with Iran.Just as the Islamic Republic has stood against bullying and external pressure, Russia will never submit to policies based on force, he stressed.
