Iran-US Negotiations Kick Off in Switzerland

Four-way talks between Iran, the United States as well as mediators Pakistan and Qatar started at the Burgenstock resort, launching a 60-day discussion window under the 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoS) signed by Presidents Masoud Pezeshkian and Donald Trump.
The Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and including Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi, will be pressing for full implementation of the MoU.Iranian officials have reiterated that progress hinges on the US fulfilling its commitments under the preliminary deal, particularly its obligation to secure an end to Israeli attacks on Lebanon. The US delegation is headed by Vice President JD Vance, who arrived in Switzerland earlier Sunday, and includes Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, is leading the mediation effort alongside Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
Tehran has announced that the visit should not be viewed as the start of a new round of negotiations aimed at reaching a final agreement, and this trip is essentially aimed at demanding the fulfillment of the other party's commitments. Any understanding or deal is ultimately tested during the implementation phase, Tehran added.
