Pezeshkian: Iran-US MoU Constitutes Historic Document

President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the memorandum of understanding signed between Tehran and Washington constitutes a historic document and reflects the message of a strong Iran, emphasizing that peace can only be achieved on the basis of mutual respect.
Writing on X on Thursday, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s commitment to global peace while safeguarding national dignity and independence.
The 14-point document was signed remotely in the early hours of Thursday by Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump, who was attending the G7 summit in France.Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who served as mediator in the months-long diplomatic effort, also inked the memorandum. Sharif announced that the agreement enters into force with immediate effect.Under the deal, the parties agreed to the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations involving Iran, the US, and their respective allies across all fronts, including Lebanon, while committing to avoid future military action and threats of force. The memorandum also outlines a phased process for easing restrictions affecting Iran’s economy and maritime activity, establishes a framework for negotiations on nuclear-related issues under mutually agreed mechanisms and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supervision, and envisages completion of a final agreement within 60 days that would ultimately be formalized through a binding UN Security Council resolution.
The president attached a photo of the MoU between Iran and the US to his post, stressing that "this is a historic document and a message from strong Iran: peace will be realized through mutual respect".“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always remained committed and dedicated to global peace while preserving dignity and independence, as well as to progress and regional cooperation,” Pezeshkian added.
