Pezeshkian Downplays Trump's War Rhetoric
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian downplayed President Donald Trump’s anti-Tehran rhetoric, stressing that the Islamic Republic will “stand firm” amid threats from the American leader of more attacks against the country.
Writing on X on Wednesday, Pezeshkian denounced warnings to target Iranian infrastructure.
After insisting for weeks that a peace accord between the United States and Iran is close, Trump has escalated his rhetoric against Tehran, suggesting that time has run out to reach a diplomatic solution to the crisis.Earlier on Wednesday, Trump renewed his threat to bomb the country’s power plants and bridges, despite concerns that attacking civilian infrastructure could constitute a war crime.
“Threats to target them – from transportation networks to the electricity and water industries – are not a show of strength but a sign of desperation in the face of a nation’s will,” Pezeshkian stressed.
