Iran: Oil Manipulation Game by US in Vain

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf dismissed futile endeavours by the United States to manipulate global oil prices, stressing that Washington's techniques would fail to prevent an acute supply crunch caused by the American-Israeli war against Tehran.
Writing on X on Tuesday, Qalibaf said attempts in the so-called paper oil market will not prevent shocks caused by Iran’s control over a key oil transport route in the Persian Gulf.“We are aware of what is happening in the paper oil market, including the firms hired to influence oil futures. We also see the broader jawboning campaign,” he said.
The Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply normally passes, has effectively been shut down since the US-Israeli onslaught against Iran in late February. Hundreds of ships have reportedly remained anchored nearby, while global shipping companies and oil exporters have paused operations due to security concerns. The disruption of tanker traffic in the waterway, lying between the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, has triggered a major surge in energy prices.Analysts say US President Donald Trump’s claim that Washington has renewed discussions with Tehran might be a move to calm markets as oil prices surge. An end to the Iran war will bring immediate relief to oil and natural gas markets, but it could take months before prices fall back to the levels they stood at before the conflict started.
The top legislator stressed that those efforts would not translate into an actual decline in record fuel prices in the US and other parts of the world.“But let’s see if they can turn that into ‘actual fuel’ at the pump — or maybe even print gas molecules!” he added.
