Parliament Speaker Dismisses Trump's Claim over Iran-US Talks

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stressed that‌ Tehran didn’t hold negotiations with Washington amid the war between two sides, calling it fake news to manipulate markets.
Writing on X on Monday, Qalibaf denied talks have taken place between Iran and the United States.“No negotiations have been held with the US, and fake news is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped,” he added.
President Donald Trump claimed in a post on Truth Social media platform that the US and Iran have had “very good and constructive conversations over the past two days regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East".The American leader also stated that he had ordered the Pentagon to postpone all plans for military attacks on Iran’s electricity generation infrastructure for five days subject to the outcome of the negotiations. He had previously threatened to attack Iran’s power plants within 48 hours if Iran did not fully open the Strait of Hormuz.Iran has stressed that Trump backed down from his threats after realizing that the country would target all power plants in West Asia, warning that any threat to Tehran would be met with a proportional and firm response.
Iran demands “complete and remorseful punishment of the aggressors”, the speaker said in a second post.Iranian officials “stand firmly behind their supreme leader and people until this goal is achieved”, Qalibaf emphasized.
