President: Attacking Iran's Energy Infrastructure May Lead to 'Uncontrollable Repercussions'
President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned US-Israeli air attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure, warning that the circumstance could spiral out of control, leading to far-reaching consequences across the globe.
“I strongly condemn attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure,” Pezeshkian wrote on X on Wednesday.
Pezeshkian's remarks come after US-Israeli air raids targeted facilities in the South Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in the coastal city of Asaluyeh, home to the massive South Pars gas field, the world's largest known gas reserve, which supplies approximately 70 percent of Iran's domestic natural gas.The strikes caused a fire and temporarily suspended operations at the refining complex. In response to the South Pars attack, Iran's military issued a statement declaring it would "severely strike the source of the aggression and consider targeting the fuel, energy, and gas infrastructure" of countries from which the assaults were launched.Iranian Armed Forces published a list of US-linked energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, stating they "will be targeted in the coming hours".
"Such aggressive actions will not bring any achievement for the US-Zionist enemy and their allies but they will instead complicate the situation and could lead to out-of-control consequences that would grip the entire world," the Iranian president added.
