Iranian Official: Oil Exports from Kharg Island Remain Uninterrupted
The exports from Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf are “fully under way” and that oil companies’ activities on the site continue without interruption, an Iranian official stated Saturday, after US President Donald Trump claimed Washington had attacked the critical export hub.
Deputy Governor of Bushehr Province Ehsan Jahaniyan said the operations of oil companies on Kharg Island in Southern Iran are “proceeding normally”.
Trump late Friday stated that the US had launched air raids on Kharg Island, targeting only military assets in what he called one of the “most powerful bombing raids in the History of West Asia.Tehran warned it would strike US-linked oil and energy infrastructures in West Asia if its own oil facilities are attacked, reiterating its threat in response to US bombardment of military targets on Kharg Island. The island, a 5-mile strip of land, is home to Iran’s most important oil facility, where roughly 90 percent of the country’s crude is processed.
“On Kharg Island, a part of Bushehr County, the operations of oil companies at this export terminal are proceeding normally,” Jahaniyan added.
