MP: US, Israel for Orchestrating ‘Multilayered Project of Organized Terrorism’ Against Iran
Iran’s Deputy Parliament Speaker Hamidreza Hajibabaei stated that the United States and Israel orchestrated a “complex project of organized terrorism” targeting Iran’s national security and stability, resulting in thousands of deaths and widespread damage to civilian infrastructure.
Addressing the main plenary of the 16th General Assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), Hajibabaei told Asian parliamentary leaders that Iran had suffered 3,117 fatalities, including 2,427 civilians and security personnel, during the latest foreign-backed unrest.He explained that protests that began in late December 2025 over “legitimate economic demands” were targeted by organized efforts by the United States and Israel to divert them toward violent unrest, sabotage and mass casualties.He added the damage included 305 ambulances and buses, 700 shops, 300 private residential units, 750 banks, 414 government buildings, 200 schools, 350 mosques and 800 private vehicles.
Violent rioters attacked the administrative buildings, police and bus stations and mosques in a number of cities across Iran in early January, killing some ordinary people and security forces and inflicting injuries on others.Authorities say evidence shows foreign-backed terror groups distributed weapons, deliberately targeted civilians and security forces, and acted with the direct involvement of the United States and Israel.Tehran has stressed that recent violent events in the country represented a continuation of failed plots by Washington and the Zionist regime following the 12-day war, stressing that such endeavours have once again been thwarted by the Iranian nation.Tehran has also announced that hundreds of key operatives and ringleaders involved in the recent foreign-backed unrest in the country have been captured in the course of several operations. Iran’s Security Council also released a report on the recent violent riots across the country, confirming that more than 2,400 people, including civilians and security personnel, were martyred. It added that 690 other individuals were also killed during the riots.
The Iranian lawmaker said the Islamic Republic would respond “decisively, immediately and proportionately” to any aggressive or terrorist action, in accordance with the United Nations Charter.He accused the current US administration of systematically seeking to dominate natural resources, national wealth, markets and strategic capacities of other countries worldwide, including in Asia’s sensitive and strategic regions. “The message of this policy is clear,” he continued, adding, “No country, regardless of its size, power or history of relations with the United States, is immune from pressure, coercion or threats.”Hajibabaei described Iran as one of the main targets of Washington’s strategy, including threats of force, illegal sanctions and direct and indirect aggressive measures. As an example, he pointed to the direct military attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities in June 2025, as Iran was in talks with the US over its nuclear program.
