Israel Launches Fresh Round of Aerial Attacks Against Tehran's Residential Areas
Israel on Sunday conducted a new wave of aerial onslaught on several districts in Tehran, with densely populated residential areas of the Iranian capital being targeted.
They include several busy intersections in the city, including Tajrish and Quds Square, Shariati Avenue, Valiasr Square and Sohrevardi Street.Tajrish is home to a major shopping center, while Valiasr Street is considered one of Tehran’s main thoroughfares and commercial centers.The strike on Quds Square in Tajrish hit 50 meters from Shohada Hospital, a major health center in Northern Tehran.
Israel unleashed a wave of strikes on various civilian and military areas and residential neighborhoods in the capital, Tehran, and other major cities.The barbaric attacks claimed dozens of lives, including civilians, top military officials and commanders as well as nuclear scientists.Less than 24 hours after the Israeli onslaught, Iran launched its retaliatory operation – dubbed Operation True Promise III -- by firing a barrage of missiles towards the occupied Palestinian territories.
Videos and photos shared online on Sunday show heavy plumes of smoke rising from various parts of Tehran.Residents in Tehran have confirmed they felt fresh explosions shake the city on Sunday afternoon.State media reported blasts in several residential areas in the city and showed plumes of smoke rising. One video showed a car on fire and the street thick with dust. Another showed an apartment building has collapsed.Footage taken from Quds Square shows an injured person being carried on a stretcher to a waiting emergency vehicle. The camera pans upwards to show the smashed windows of a nearby building.Israel’s military had previously claimed it was targeting military and nuclear complexes in Iran, although there are no known such complexes in these areas of the capital.
