Iran’s Leader Names Replacements for Martyred Military Officials
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei appointed Iranian Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi as the new Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour as the new commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
In a decree on Friday, Ayatollah Khamenei, Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, promoted Brig. Gen. Pakpour to the rank of major general and appointed him as the new commander of the IRGC.Pakpour is replacing Major General Hossein Salami, who was martyred in an Israeli strike in the early hours of Friday.In another decree, Ayatollah Khamenei assigned Maj. Gen. Mousavi to replace Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, who was also martyred in an Israeli raid.In the decrees announcing the designations, the Leader paid tribute to Salami and Baqeri for their glorious and dignified martyrdom at the hands of the evil Zionist regime.
Israel launched a wave of military strikes against Iranian military, nuclear sites and residential areas on Thursday night local time in a major escalation.Along with military officials, several Iranian nuclear scientists as well as a number of civilians, including children and women, were martyred in the raids.Iran has warned the Zionist regime that it will have to pay a heavy price for its military attack against the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei also appointed Brigadier General Ali Shadmani as the new commander of Iran’s Khatam Al-Anbia Central Headquarters.Shadmani is replacing Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, who was martyred in an Israeli attack in the early hours of Friday.
