Military Chief: Iran Not to Initiate War, But Ever-Ready to Defend
At no time will Tehran initiate any war, but Iran's Armed Forces will firmly defend the country against any foreign threat, Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri reaffirmed.
Gen. Baqeri on Monday stressed the combat and operational readiness of the country’s Army and the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) naval units to confront hostile acts.During a ceremony on the shores of the Persian Gulf and the Northern tip of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which was attended by Chief Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, IRGC Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami and several top-brass military commanders, Baqeri warned the enemies that any miscalculation would have dire consequences. “We are in our best form in terms of combat capability and readiness. Thank God our Armed Forces are in the best situation as to intelligence collection, operational planning, and readiness to implement scenarios,” he stated.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently repeated calls for Iran's entire nuclear infrastructure to be dismantled, as Washington and Tehran engage in negotiations for a nuclear deal. Echoing Netanyahu's remarks, US President Donald Trump has stated he wants Iran to completely scrap its nuclear program. The American leader has stated that he is willing to reach an agreement with Iran that allows Washington to “blow up” Tehran’s nuclear facilities, adding that there were only two possible outcomes, namely “blowing them up nicely or blowing them up viciously".
“Our advice to the enemies who sometimes pose threats against the establishment is: You may initiate a conflict with the Islamic Republic based on a miscalculation, but the ending, manner, timing, location and developments on the battleground will not be within your control. It will be the Islamic Republic of Iran that will determine them,” Baqeri pointed out.The high-ranking military figure further noted that all operational plans and conditions were inspected in the course of his visit, and assurances were made that the Iranian Armed Forces are in their optimal situation in terms of training and maneuvers, readiness to work, and mental and operational readiness.“In case the enemies make a mistake, or intend to take action against the [Islamic] establishment and the sacred waters and soil of the Islamic Republic of Iran, our Armed Forces have the ability and readiness to confront them,” he added.
