Iran's Leader Aid: In'l Scene on Verge of Significant Change

Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, said that the global political landscape is on the cusp of a significant change that will see Western powers lose their influence globally.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Velayati stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky governs irresponsibly over Ukraine, while the West uses the prosperous country as a pawn in its political games. He remarked that the West typically avoids direct confrontation with its rivals, instead inciting conflicts in other countries to refrain from serious self-harm.The advisor cited Ukraine as a prime example, where “an ambitious leader with little understanding of international affairs was brought to power and provoked against Russia".Velayati, a former foreign minister, predicted that with the change in US administration and its different perspective, foreign assistance to Ukraine will decrease and “it appears that Russia will emerge victorious".Iran's Leader’s aide noted that the international scene is on the brink of significant change.
According to a recent report from the Pentagon’s Inspector General, the US Congress has allocated $182.99 billion to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s military operation in February 2022.The US has provided a range of military equipment to Ukraine, including vehicles, ammunition, weapons, artillery, and demolition equipment. The aid packages have specifically included Bradley fighting vehicles, which Ukrainian troops have come to prefer over Abrams tanks due to their speed and agility on the battlefield, the report says, adding that American maintenance experts continue to offer remote support for this equipment through secure communication channels. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has allocated $3.9 billion in additional direct budget support to Ukraine, part of a larger $7.84 billion supplemental appropriation approved in April 2024. This budget support facilitates ongoing government operations and the provision of essential services in Ukraine. The funding covers salaries for civil servants and school employees, assistance for internally displaced persons, support for low-income families, as well as subsidies for housing and utilities.
While the administration of US President Joe Biden has maintained its commitment to providing financial and military support to Ukraine “for as long as it takes” amid the conflict with Russia, concerns have arisen regarding the potential impact of President-elect Donald Trump’s election victory on future military assistance. In West Asia, despite the predictions of its supporters, the Zionist regime is weakening, and sooner or later, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political career will end, Velayati stated.“The Zionist regime is in decline, and even its staunch allies have welcomed the International Criminal Court’s ruling,” he added, referring to the arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.“Alongside this ruling, student and public movements in support of the oppressed people of Palestine continue to grow in the US, Europe, and other parts of the world, indicating the regime’s severe weakening,” the senior advisor concluded.
On Thursday, the ICC issued arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant over war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip. The men were accused of “crimes against humanity and war crimes" committed from early October 2023 until late May 2024”, a statement from the court said. There are “reasonable grounds” to believe that Gallant and Netanyahu “intentionally and knowingly deprived the civilian population in Gaza of objects indispensable to their survival, including food, water, and medicine and medical supplies, as well as fuel and electricity”, it added. All 124 member states of the Rome Statute, the treaty that established the court, are now under an obligation to arrest the wanted individuals and hand them over to the ICC in The Hague. A trial cannot commence in absentia. However, the court does not have enforcement powers. It relies on the cooperation of member states to detain and surrender suspects. Most world leaders, states and humanitarian organizations have praised the decision. They have announced arrest warrants issued for Netanyahu and Gallant were "binding" and should be implemented.
Israel’s October 2023-present genocidal war on the besieged enclave has killed over 44,000 people, mostly children and women, and injured more than 104,000 others. The figures exclude tens of thousands of dead who are believed to be buried in the bombed-out ruins of homes, shops, shelters and other buildings. The military campaign has turned much of the enclave of 2.3 million people into ruins, leaving most civilians homeless and at risk of famine. The Palestinian territory has been identified as one of the places most likely to see deadly hunger levels in the coming months, according to a new report by United Nations food agencies.
