Iran's Military Advisor Martyred After Sustaining Wounds in US-Led Coalition Raid on Syria
An Iranian military advisor with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Unit on Thursday succumbed to his injuries sustained in an airstrike launched by the so-called US-led coalition in Syria.
The IRGC in a statement expressed condolences over the martyrdom of Colonel Ahmad Reza Afshari, who had been transferred to Iran late August with serious injuries for medical treatment after being targeted in an air attack by the international military coalition. The US-led coalition has been conducting aerial operations in recent years against the Damascus forces and its supporters, including Iran and the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, without Syria's authorization or a UN mandate.
Since 2011, Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy, as a result of which Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL) and other terror groups emerged in the Arab country.Iran maintains an advisory mission in the war-ravaged country at the request of Damascus, helping it in the face of foreign-backed terrorism. Several members of the IRGC have so far been martyred in the battle against terrorists in Syria as well as air attacks by the US and the Israeli regime.#Iran#IRGC#Syria#US_Led_Coalition 15:35 - 25 مرداد 1403
