Iranian intelligence agents detained an individual in Ardabil province on charges of espionage for Mossad spy agency. The fugitive, whose identity was not immediately available, was wanted by Iran’s Intelligence Ministry.According to the Media Bureau of the provincial Prosecutor's Office, the Mossad spy was in close contact with high-profile Israeli intelligence officers through social media, and was gathering critical information for them under the guise of a news editor.
Iran’s foes, mainly Israel and the United States, have been engaged in attempts to spy on and sabotage Iran’s defense and nuclear industries.Iran has in recent years captured several members of spy networks affiliated to foreign secret services. The militants were involved in making explosives and hand-made bombs and linked to foreigners and planned to carry out counter-security acts and terror operations.Earlier this year, the intelligence ministry said its units had identified a significant number of spies linked to Mossad in 28 countries across the world. The ministry described it as the “largest combined intelligence and counter-intelligence operation” against the Israeli regime’s espionage and security organizations.Iran has been the target of terrorist attacks in the past few decades and thousands of its citizens have been martyred by the terrorist groups supported by certain Western states. Iranian officials stress that the country is a victim of terrorism.
The Wednesday report added that a Mossad agent had traveled to several provinces in the hope of taking refuge there and finally leaving the country, before he was identified and captured during a surprise operation in Ardabil Province. The arrested spy purportedly hails from a region in Southern Iran.#Iran#Israel#Mossad
